Bay Area Senior Women’s Housing Options

HousingOptionsHousing Options for Seniors
What can happen in Solano County?
7 p.m., Wednesday, May 21, 2014
First Baptist Church, 1055 Southampton Road – Benicia

The program speaker will be Raines Cohen, a Certified Green Building Professional and Certified Senior Cohousing Facilitator. Cohen helps people create new choices for retirement, and is a member of the National Aging In Place Council and founding member of The Elders Guild and Cohousing California, website:  www.calcoho.org.

Cohen’s presentation will discuss the concept of “aging in place,” adapting homes to support people being able to stay there as they age. Cohen commented, “We think aging in place is great, but not nearly enough.” Cohen’s work helps individuals develop a vision of community connections including intergenerational and age-specific options.

There may be an opportunity to discuss what collaborative senior housing options exist in Solano County which might spark the start of new senior housing possibilities.  Members of religious and other non-profit groups serving the interests of seniors are encouraged to attend.  Realtors and investors who may want to invest in offering these housing options are also invited.

Whether you attend the program to learn of housing options for yourself, your relatives or your neighbors, there will be lots to learn.
