Tech Trek is a national program of the American Association of University Women (AAUW).

Over 100 AAUW branches participate. The Benicia Vallejo branch funds the camperships at no cost to the families. We work with our middle schools to select promising students who might not otherwise get such an opportunity.
Benicia/Vallejo offers both a residential camp at the Sonoma State campus and virtual camp online. Residential participants live on campus for a week. Virtual campers participate from home. This year we offered in-person camp scholarships to 5 Vallejo and 1 Benicia girl. In addition, two Benicia girls have signed up for the virtual camp.
Both programs feature inspiring interactions with women role models from STEM fields, hands-on workshops, group projects, field trips, demonstrations, and team building! Activities have included building balloon-powered race cars and pressure powered rockets, learning CSI-type forensics, building water towers, or, in virtual camp, making a hat with movable robotic parts.
The camp is staffed totally by AAUW members and our own loyal Tech Trek Alums.
