Benicia Voter Forum
10:00 – 1:00; Saturday, October 11
Benicia City Council Chambers – 250 East L Street
The November 4, 2014, election is quickly approaching. Benicia voters will make decisions about candidates and several state and local ballet measures. In an ongoing effort to help the public stay informed, the League of Women Voters Benicia, in collaboration with the Open Government Commission and the Association of American University Women, will host a free Voter Forum for the public on Saturday, October 11.
AAUW members will have a Membership Recruitment table, and assist with collecting audience questions (submitted on 3 x 5 cards), as well as providing refreshments. One more volunteer is needed to help with refreshments. Please call AAUW Program Co-Chair Phyllis Sliss if you can volunteer to help on October 11.
Candidates running for Benicia Unified School Board will be on hand to introduce themselves and answer audience questions. Other presenters will offer the pros and cons of several ballot measures. They will present information about State Proposition 1, the $7.2 billion water bond, as well as City Measure B, how the City Treasurer should be selected, and City Measure C, the proposal to raise the sales tax in Benicia.
